Santa Fe Bus Shelter Project
One of my favorite projects was my collaboration with the Santa Fe Arts Commission and Art in Public Places Committee. To convey the craft and aesthetic of traditional tin smithing for the city’s new bus shelter initiative, I designed a series of cut-out panels that would play with light and shadows. I hand-drafted panels that were 21 inches wide by 7 feet long to translate a handcrafted art form to large scale metal fabricating. This technique enabled me to deliver an authentic, handmade feel to the work before it was converted into CAD files.
I am invested in preserving and amplifying the traditional arts and believe that through projects like this I can demonstrate that tradition has a dynamic and vital place in public spaces.
